  1. Hey there Mr Soon-To-Be-ExRockingByrd,

Geez, so sad to see you go.. again. Saw a comment you made at another blog and thought I'd visit, even though I missed out on getting invited before you made the blog invitation only some time ago. In going through your archives, I was further saddened by the number of posts in which you remark about the preponderance of downloads versus the shortage-if not total lack-of comments. That is just rude, and I apologize that so many partook of your hard labor and generosity and failed to do the right thing. Just wanted you to know before you go that it truly is appreciated very very much. Blogs such as yours and Uncle Gil have opened my ears and mind to the likes of Clarence White and his catalog and iterations, the actual Jimi Hendrix of Country-Rock, who has yet to attain the respect and status in music history he deserves. Thank you also for perpetuating the other names that begat this form, including Gene Clark, Gram Parsons and Clarence White. I cannot tell you how many times I tuned in and was in awe that yet another Clark show was upped by you! When you closed the blog to non-members I was devastated at the thought of missing out on rare Gene and Clarence. But Lo! Back you are, albeit for a very short time, and I thank you for that as well. It is very righteous and overly kind of you to make these available again, considering how you have been slighted in the Appreciation Department by your readers.

You had a great run here and, just from the sheer volume and rarity presented, deserve a well-earned retirement from this erstwhile dark end of the (one-way) street. May the light shine more kindly on your future endeavors.

    Until,
    stu

  2. Hey man,

Not to be a pest (I am), but I also just went back a year through all the (admittedly sparse) comments and now pretty fully appreciate your resignation from all this toil and lack of feedback. Most are from the same couple of people and those barely give more than thanks. I think I can understand your frustration here. If I were to go through all this trouble, I would at least like to find one human on the other end with enough wits about them to come back with some sort of personal insight regarding their appreciation for specifically what was shared, not just a robotic This is great! Intellect is on the wane I fear, and copy and paste has substituted out our brains and thought processes and general respect for one another.

For myself, this has in the past few years become the music that feeds my soul and drives my spirit and keeps me going through all the BS. I can't speak for the others though, and can only again apologize for the comment-challenged masses.

  3. Hi guys,
I for one usually don't post comments in a forum for several reasons, but this time I have to react. Having joined late (mid of last year) I had no real chance to share my thoughts with others. Being a lover of BYRDS related music since 1967 and collecting everything I could get a hold of I was amazed to find out that the Rocking-Byrd offered such a value of sounds. On my website I've published amongst others the biography, discography and family tree of many BYRDS related groups. After joining the Rocking-Byrd community I had to change some information especially on the line-ups of some short lived combinations, some corrections still have to be integrated. Running my website for almost 20 years I know that you never earn enough feedback from your readers. From time to time you get a reaction of one of the musicians, but rarely ever any fan response. Funnily enough the response to some of the discography and biography books I've published during all these years face the same non reaction. I fully understand your decision, rocking-byrd, even though I wish we could change your mind. Let us know, whether there is anything we can do to keep up the contact. If not via the forum then perhaps by direct e-mail contact. Let's keep in contact and let's enjoy the music to come

  6. rocking-byrd, i just discovered your blog, doing research for a piece i'm writing on the byrds. what a shame you're shutting it down, but i fully understand your frustration, going to the effort of posting all this music for ingrates who can't be bothered to even say "thank you."
it's why i quit blogging, that and rude comments, which are worse than none at all.
i appreciate all you've done and will enjoy the music that is still available here.
    and THANK YOU!

  7. I just discovered your site. Not that it matters, but i'm the person who recorded the Byrds Dean Jr. College show from 1972 that I posted on Dime.Is the ANY chance of getting the Gene Clark Sings For You reupped? I've got a few uncirculated Byrds related shows I'd be willing to give you in trade.
    Thanks

  12. Hi Rocking-byrd,

Sorry to say that I, too, also only recently found this site, after you had already stopped posting new stuff. Sorry you didn't get the enthusiastic response you desrved for such an excellent site. But I am VERY glad that you have not removed the posts and shut the site down completely, for I, and I gather many others, have been mining many of the gems you still have available here. Thanks so much for them. I have my own blog, and as Rank stranger is referring to, I have recently started posting some previously uncirculated recordings of the SHF Band. I got these from David (who also recently started visiting this site from my recommendation, and has recently posted comments to you). he also is a big Byrds fan and has many of his own tapes from byrds-related artists. he has started to share some with me, and I am starting to post sthem (as I get the cahnce to go through the recordings and fix them up a bit). Check out http://bbchron.blogspot.com
for more info and the first of these posts. I'm sure David would also like to share some of his recordings with you here, if you are interested. Anyway, thanks for all the work you put into this site, and for sharing all this great music.
