The Byrds – Byrds On The Wyng

The Byrds – Byrds On The Wyng

Wally Jig Records WJ 67 (USA 19??)

“Early Studio Demos”

“Post Beefeaters On The Wyng” on labels

It’s just been announced that this boot LP (that I’ve owned since its first release in the early 90s) is planned to be released on CD in July 2021 on a boot label from Norway (?).

So I thought the time was right to rip it, scan the artwork and offer it to you before it’s made widely available (if it ever is).

Tracks A4 and B9 are Bob Dylan songs, sung by a female artist, backed what is supposed to be The Byrds. Not certain though.

Track B8 is not listed on the back cover nor on the label.

“I Knew I’d Want You” is listed on the back cover as an 9th track on side A, but it is NOT on the vinyl.

A1. You Won't Have To Cry (2:43)
A2. She Has A Way (3:37)
A3. Turn!
Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season) (mistitled Turn, Turn, Turn) (instrumental) (4:13)
A4. I Don't Believe You (mistitled I Don't Believe Me) (3:16)
A5. Eight Miles High (3:23)
A6. Why (2:44)
A7. The Day Walk (mistitled Ways To Show It) (3:02)
A8. Triad (instrumental) (1:06)
B1. Eight Miles High (4:05)
B2. Hey Joe (2:24)
B3. I Know You Rider (2:48)
B4. It Happens Each Day (mistitled Disembodied Spirit) (2:58)
B5. John Riley (fast instrumental version) (mistitled Scrambled Egg Jam) (3:02)
B6. Mr. Tambourine Man (2:32)
B7. Thoughts And Words (3:12)
B8. Renaissance Fair (short instrumental excerpt) (0:22)
B9. It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (3:09)

  5. Here a comment from somone who bought the CD version on Amazon:

This is a cheap CD-R copy with photocopied covers of the well-known bootleg LP from the 1980s. It was released shortly before the official Never Before LP/CD compilation and most of its contents were included on that disc and on the subsequent Byrds remastered CDs. There are also a couple of exclusive tracks that aren't by the Byrds at all, but by a female singer and a soundalike band. Since this CD is taken from an LP which in turn was taken from tapes many generations down from the originals, the sound quality is atrocious.
