Journals is a 9 CD (4 double CDs and 1 single CD) set housed in a 12” x 12” golden metallic box.

The Byrds in the Columbia studios, playing and singing multiple versions of tracks from their first 3 albums (“Mr. Tambourine Man”, “Turn Turn Turn” and “Fifth Dimension”) and of tracks from these sessions that weren’t officially released until the remastered CDs came out in the 90s.

Vol. 9 is a compilation of tracks from the 8 other CDs.

A further double CD, titled “Lost Studio Series”, was later released by another label, with all known outtakes not on this 9 CD box. It also contained outtakes from the 4th LP (“Younger Than Yesterday”) and a couple of other oddities from the same era. It was posted here some time ago.

Ladies and gentlemen, sit down and relax. You are now in the control room at Columbia studios, and standing next to you is producer Terry Melcher. Enjoy!
