McGuinn, Hillman & Stuart - Something Special Happening

Roger McGuinn And Chris Hillman with Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives

Sweetheart Of The Rodeo 50th Anniversary Tribute

December 2018

For these December last dates of the tour, the big surprise was that they played 2 Gene Clark songs at the end of the encores (“I’ll Feel A Whole Lot Better” and “Eight Miles High”).

This is just those two songs, not the entire show which was very similar to three I already posted.

Manassas – Pirates World, Dania - 1972

Manassas – Pirates World, Dania - 1972

Pirates World Amusement Park, Dania, Florida – April 22, 1972

Stephen Stills - guitar, piano, vocals
Chris Hillman - guitar, mandolin, vocals
Al Perkins - pedal steel, vocals
Paul Harris - keyboards, vocals
Joe Lala - percussion, vocals

Manassas’ self-titled first album was a double LP with a mixture of rock, country, blues, bluegrass and latin music divided into sections.

They toured to promote the album and this is one of these shows. Just as on the LPs, there were long uninterrupted tracks with no easy splitting, so I tried to keep the same splitting here.

9. Crossroads (7:55)
10. 4 + 20 (2:00)
11. Do For The Others (1:12)
12. Both Of Us (4:59)
13. He Was A Friend Of Mine (8:35)

Disc 2

1. Fallen Eagle (2:47)
2. Hide It So Deep (3:00)

Requests from visitors

I've had requests to post another McGuinn, Hillman & Stuart "Sweetheart Tribute" concert that is available on various torrent sites.

However, its sound quality being much poorer than the previously posted ones and the track listing being the same (including the spoken parts), I decided not to post it.

If more people insist that I should post it anyway, I will revise my position.

The Byrds featuring Michael Clarke - Sunderland, UK 1990

The Byrds featuring Michael Clarke – Sunderland, England 1990

Empire Theater, Sunderland, England, U.K. – October 7, 1990

Michael Clarke (drums)
Skip Battin (bass, piano, vocals)
Terry Jones Rogers (guitar, vocals)
Jerry Sorn (guitar, vocals)

At the time this was recorded, original Byrds drummer Michael Clarke owned the “Byrds” trademark so he could hire whoever he wanted and call the band “The Byrds”. That’s what he did when he / they toured Europe in 1989 and 1990. So what you have here is the original Byrds drummer Michael Clarke, later days Byrds bass player / vocalist Skip Battin and a couple of semi-unknown hired guns playing songs made famous by the original group. In other words, a rather poor quality cover group.

Not available in stores.

1. Introduction (0:51)
2. I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better (4:04)
3. All I Really Want To Do (2:57)
4. My Back Pages (4:08)
5. Sail On Sailor (5:05)
6. Band Intros (1:58)
7. Mr Tambourine Man (5:36)
8. Pirates (6:40)
9. Intro to Chimes Of Freedom (1:19)
10. Chimes Of Freedom (4:09)
11. You Ain't Goin' Nowhere (4:29)
12. All I Need To Survive (4:53)
13. Tricou House (4:37)
14. Mr. Spaceman (3:24)
15. Turn! Turn! Turn! (3:55)
16. So You Want To Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star (3:34)
17. Eight Miles High (9:25)
18. Pretty Woman (4:01)
19. Will The Circle Be Unbroken (4:57)

Old Vienna Kaffehaus, Westboro, MA - October 16, 1988

Solo Acoustic Performance - Audience Recording
